Thursday 25th September

Pasha, mum to be, has spent the last 2 weeks in my bedroom. 05.45 this morning, she gives out a yelp and dives from under the duvet straight into the waiting kitten box; excited and slightly smug (that she had gone into 'the delivery suite' without prompting, whilst I had been warned that the bad habit I had encouraged of allowing her in the bed would result in the likely hood of the kittens being born there). I followed.

Within a couple of minutes I could see the first kitten's head; that's when it all started to go Pete Tong. Pasha was suddenly distressed and shot out of the box straight onto my bed and started to try and get under the covers, with the baby half born and me in hot pursuit with towels. She was determined to give birth in the bed and I was determined she wouldn't, bearing in mind I was mindful that she must not get upset. After a a few minutes of determined persuation on my part, Pasha dived back into the box where baby 1 was delivered quickly followed by number 2. Then nothing for two hours.... I phoned my Sister for advice and was just considering calling the vet when Pasha, who had been sleeping, started yelling and I could see a clear discharge followed by a back leg! Not good, instinct, on my part, stepped in and I gently pulled on the leg, Pasha didn't take kindly to my assistance and tried to run off. But after a couple of slippery attempts baby number 3 appeared. At this point I dashed off for a quick shower, grabbing tea and toast and returned  for number 4, the heaviest, to be born quickly followed by 5, the smallest. Whilst new Mum was great with cleaning them off she didn't attempt to chew the umbilical cord for any of them and as much as I wanted to use scissors for this task I remembered my Sister telling me that tearing it with one's nails was better. Another new experience for me!

By 1pm all 5 were feeding and an exhausted Mum getting a well earned cat nap. The equally exhausted Midwife had to dash off to work and attend the company's AGM. We all slept well that night!!

Monday 13th October

I'm mindful that I have not updated my diary for 2 weeks. I can only say it has been a hetic time in our house. With the 3 Bengal boys getting ready to go to their new homes in less than 2 weeks; as well as Pasha's new litter. Little Minsk, the last born and smallest has had a difficult time competing with his brothers, yes have finally worked out that the Europeans are all boys, to the extent that I have had to do some hand rearing. He is still lighter and smaller but is making good progress and catching up.

Pasha is a young mum and yesterday I could tell that she was having an 'off day'. This was confirmed when she dumped all 5 babies IN my bed and went off for some R&R. As much to say 'I need time out..it's your turn! A very disturbed night's sleep followed. Fortunatly she is feeling better today and is back to being their main carer. A sigh of relieve from me!

Sunday 2nd November

The house has had a period (1 week) of being peaceful, with the last of our Bengal boys leaving for his new home last weekend and the Serengeti babies only 3 weeks old. I have now started weaning them and with the exception of Paris, who is really a cry baby and will only feed off my fingers, all the rest are eating well. London is the independant one whatever it is he justs gets on with it. Roma and Vienna eat, fight and sleep, typical boys and little Minsk is still being fed and looked after by me and my family, despite being so underwieght he is a real fighter and loves nothing better than snuggling into one's neck; he's going to be a heartbreaker!

Monday 17th November

I've surprised myself by how much calmer I seem to be with this second litter and I think it's fair to say the kittens have picked up on this too. The four of them are such a delight and my daughter has her heart set on Paris being her Christmas present!! He, Paris, is the 'baby' he cries the loudest and demands the most attention, as long as he's sat in the crook of your arm or on your shoulder, he's happy to do all the housework, cooking ect with you! London is the quiet, independant type, unphased by everything but the vacumn monster that rears it's head a couple of times a week!

3rd September

All three boys are now eating a mixture of kitten food and baby rice and continue to do well. I think Mum is pleased  and is spending more time away from them. My daughter has now decided that she can't bear to part with any of them! I have explained that 7 cats/kittens is a no and there will be more babies in 3 weeks time for her to play with and help look after. I'm so pleased she has had the opportunity to experience, as I did at her age, these wonderful bundles.

LITTER TRAYS

My life at the momment consists of feeds and yes, litter trays. There is no such thing as a dirty cat; only owners who fail to keep up with this chore. A cat/kitten will not use a dirty litter tray, I have currently seven house cats, with another litter of kitts due on 26th (have I mentioned that?) Making sure my house is odour free is an all consuming task, I clean and refill their trays up to five times a day, bearing in mind I work full time away from the house, and you can bet as soon as I've cleaned them, as I've just done at 10.30pm, someone will feel the need to use them, as they just have, and the whole process starts again!

The kittens continue to be a delight, they miss me when I'm at work and crave human company. I must admitt to being very excited about my first litter of Serengeti kitts due on 26th (have I mentioned that?)

'Baby' Pasha, our pregnant Serengeti continues to get visably bigger each day; she only has 6 days to go! She is now on a diet of fish and chicken plus kitten dried food as she always appears hungry, with an expected 1st litter of 5+ this is not surprising! She is now sleeping in my bedroom, well bed to be exact, and  appears to be very happy with this arrangement. (whilst this is not ideal for me) I have hopes of more than one colour (ie brown) I am just hopefull that they are all healthy; she is after all, my baby.

OUR KITTENS

All our kittens are born and reared indoors as part of our family until they leave for their new homes at thirteen weeks old. By this time they are fully socialised, wormed, litter trained, fully vaccinated and TICA registered.

We only part with our babies to loving homes; they are normally only available as pets and proof of neutering is required. We ask for £100 deposit  (non refundable) to reserve a kitten ; POA we offer a discount on two or more kittens being re homed together, as Bengals and Serengeti' are very social cats and enjoy lots of company. We require the new family to sign our kitten contract, and we supply a kitten gift pack when our babies leave us for their new homes. We are happy to be contacted in regard to any questions during the initial settling in period.
